Saltillo, Coahuila.- Beyond the bonds of friendship exists the relationship of Sister Cities.

The Chambers of Commerce of Austin and Saltillo are "devoted to strengthening business ties between both communities," said Luis Rodriguez, president of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Peelander-Z Featured at Aug. 11 Japanese Festival

Japanese action comic punk band Peelander-Z will headline a family-friendly summer festival celebrating Japanese culture. The 2018 Oita Japan Festival #OitaATX is scheduled 12-4 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Asian American Resource Center (AARC) and will include entertainment and activities for all ages. The Austin-Oita Sister Committee is hosting the event.

Members of Peruvian Congress in Austin

Open World Leadership Center, Friendship Force of Austin and GlobalAustin have invited another delegation of Members of the Peruvian National Congress to Austin to meet with their American counterparts. During their visit in July, the Peruvian delegation will attend committee meetings and legislative sessions to learn how their counterparts interact with relevant executive agencies, advocacy groups, and constituents on the subject of Accountable Governance.

The Austin-Lima Sister Cities Committee is pleased to welcome the Peruvian Members of Congress to Austin.

Austin, London breweries create sister city beer, the Cockney Cowboy, for SXSW

A few years after Austin and the London borough of Hackney became official sister cities, two of their breweries have partnered to create a special beer that will release during South by Southwest.

Oasis, Texas Brewing and London’s Hackney Brewery have made the Cockney Cowboy Calling Hybrid Red Lager, a name that nods to Austin roots rocker Joe Ely’s relationship with the English band the Clash and their “London Calling” album.

Dr. SungEun Park New Chair of Austin-Gwangmyeong Sister Cities Committee

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. SungEun Park will lead the Austin-Gwangmyeong Sister Cities Committee, fostering the relationship between Austin, TX and our sister city in South Korea! 

Pianist SungEun Park has extensively performed as a solo pianist and chamber musician throughout Korea, Italy and the United States. Dr. Park has earned her degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin (DMA), Texas State University (MM). Dr. Park joins the Texas State International Piano Festival as Associate Program Director. She also serves as a Director at Austin Harmony Youth Orchestra.

Oita Elite Runner Exchange: Celebrate, Volunteer, Donate

We would LOVE to have 60 volunteers helping with the water station for the Austin Marathon on Sunday, February 18, 6:45 am - 1 pm. We will have LOTS of fun, cheering on the runners! We will be learning cheers in Japanese for TEAM JAPAN and the runners from our Sister City, Oita. If you register by this Friday, February 9, you will receive a marathon tshirt. And, there is FREE food! Our station is at Mile 18, near UT.
